Murphy's Gender Reveal

Murphy's Gender Reveal

While this is an extremely late post, I still felt the need to share. It was one of the greatest days for Lovey and I. We found out that our little babe was a girl and her name is Murphy Love!

First, I wanted to share the only group picture we got and it so happened to be taken after the only two girls that showed up, left. These guys are all some of our closest friends and they even said that once babe decides she wants to "date", her da…

First, I wanted to share the only group picture we got and it so happened to be taken after the only two girls that showed up, left. These guys are all some of our closest friends and they even said that once babe decides she wants to "date", her date is going to have to go through ALOT of "uncles" to get to her.

This gender reveal party was planned in literally three days. We found out that at 20 weeks we would be able to find out the gender of our babe. We "knew" that when we went to our 20 week appointment, we'd be able to find out so we kind of told all our closest friends that our party was going to be that Saturday (our appointment was on a Wednesday). When we actually got to the hospital, they informed us that they wouldn't be able to do the sonogram until we scheduled it with radiology. Talk about an unhappy momma. I just know that Matthew saw the defeat in my face so as soon as we left the office, Matthew got on the phone and called the nearest Ultrasound place. And that's how we found out baby girls gender!

As soon as we came home with the envelope containing the babes gender (we refused to find out the gender of Murphy until we were with all of our friends so our roommate held on to the envelope to give to Party City), I put these puppies together at literally no cost. I had the card stock from when I made a girlfriends wedding invitations. I had the black and white paper from when I made our wedding invitations. And I had the cute washy tape because it's cute and was the best investment ever. If I may say so myself, they were pretty freakin' cute for it being a last minute thing. I gave them to Matthew and had him pass them out the next morning!

This hottie right here and I prior to finding out the gender. He insisted on wearing his favorite tshirt, his NASA shirt, because we said as long as the kid was smart we'd be happy. And we even said that'd be the coolest if babe was an astronaut!

In December, I had a dream that we were having a baby boy. The dream was so real and sad and I literally woke up balling my eyes out. I knew that it was real! Well, two days before we found out the gender, I had a dream that we were having a little girl. I was so shocked because my previous dream. The worst part? In my dream, Matthew had found out the gender before me and accidentally told me it was a boy. I was SO EXCITED but when we had the reveal, it said a girl and I was so mad. (All of this was the dream. I was terrified). I always said I was a handful enough for Matthew and didn't want to put him through that twice. Well, we are just going to have to learn and I'll get better at being a monster. (LOL!)

This is one of the football brothers that was one of the few that were rooting for a girl!

Steven was one of the few that thought Murphy was going to be a girl. There were two other guys besides him and a girlfriend that were in pink while the rest of the guys were in blue or random colors (LOL!) I had actually bought a blue and white striped dress the week before planning on wearing that for the reveal BUT after talking to some friends I thought "man, if this kid ends up being a girl, I gotta wear something that says 'we want you no matter what' so I gotta wear pink!" I just happened to have this dress in the back of my closet from ages ago! So I slipped it on and went with that.

All the table settings and desserts. I had made those small red velvet cupcakes (because red velvet is my absolute favorite!) and made the pink and blue frosting into looking a little rose-like. The roses were a product of Matthew shopping for me and the plates/straws are from Party City. They also sold us the genderless poppers so that way we could use those to reveal the gender.

We went to Party City the day before the party and purchased everything. When we were in the process of that, we had the envelope with babes gender that we had our roommate give to the employees. We decided that we were going to do poppers so that our friends would pop them at us and we'd see the streamer color. Then the employees convinced Matthew to buy a large balloon with confetti in it so we could pop it as well. The morning of the party, Matthew had to go pick up the giant balloon (along with small balloons that spell out BABY) and he picked up the pizzas along with beer and flowers! (I told him I had to have flowers and he totally surprised me with them! There are also pink tulips in a picture somewhere!)

All things decorations! Everything was purchased at Party City (we thought it was the best way to go because they have everything in one place but looking back, we could probably get all the same kind of stuff from Wal-Mart). We had hanging flower balls, lanterns, paper straws, and all things blank and white.

If you look at the very first picture, you'll see all the decorations on the ceiling. I didn't want to go with the traditional blue and pink theme so I decided to stick to our OG theme--black, white, and gold. I say that's our OG theme because that was the color scheme from our wedding. I just think it's so neutral and classy and couldn't imagine using any other colors. We got the white hanging flower balls, the white paper lanterns, the black flower looking thinks and the gold pendant hangers that I strung like streamers. Theres the striped paper straws and balck and white polka dotted plated.
